Genetic characterization of hybrids from the cross between Tilapia guineensis and Tilapia zillii in sectors IV and V of the Ebrié Lagoon
On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the closing ceremony of the FONSTI project on the genetic characterization of tilapia hybrids was held at the École Normale Supérieure in Abidjan.

The research team presented the objectives and context of the project, explaining the importance of genetic characterization of tilapia hybrids for biodiversity conservation and aquaculture development in Côte d'Ivoire.
Detailed presentation of the scientific methodology implemented over a period of 24 months of studies, including techniques for sample collection, genetic analysis and data processing.
The main results obtained after 24 months of studies were presented, highlighting important findings on the genetic diversity of tilapia populations in the Lagoon Ebrié.
